It's durable and handles shock very well. I don't believe this item is in production any longer so you should get it while you can. It's ultra-slim shape is made possible because of the rechargeable battery which is a flat rectangle shape. I've never seen one like it before. I got it on my 17'th (?) birthday and two years later, the mechanism that snaps the lid to the base broke off. Attempts to super-glue it together proved fruitless, so with heavy heart, I looked for the updated model and found this player. I love the little stand that comes with it and the coloring of the unit itself is great because it reminds me of an Apple iBook. So visually, its a top-notch player. It sounds great, and is small and compact. It has all the functions you would expect from a CD player, Hold, Repeat, Shuffel, and program.
