I was able to get a discount price (10%) through One Call in the Amazon store. The amp is not as tall as their previous PM7000, which I also own. The amp puts out that clear warm Marantz sound one might expect, and does it very well. The input select rotary switch is nice, and the volume control is motorized and accessible via the remote control. The remote has a volume and mute control, as well as input selection buttons. I use it in combination with the Marantz CD6002 CD player and Marantz ST6001 tuner, connected via Straightwire Chorus II interconnects. I also have a pair of B&W 684 speakers connected via Straightwire Octave II speaker cables. I have even connected my Pioneer DVD player to the amplifier. I gave up on the Sony and bought the Onkyo. I use it to power two Polk tower speakers hooked up to my HDTV and DVD player. The receiver is basic, no frills.
