I tried several different converter and wasted over $200. The problem I was having was the picture was only black/white and the picture was too big for the screen. I was told only a worldwide VCR would solve the problem. However they cost $550 used and $1200 new. I read the review by the guy stationed in Turkey and decided to try it on a whim. Needless to say that even a $4,000 TV won't display the European PAL signal. Sony said it was b/c the TV is the new 1080P version (which is what I bought it for) but that as of right now those won't show a PAL signal.
