The top front wood colored panel was damaged in several places, about the size of my thumb nail and for an 80 lb plus package, this was a bit distressing. It is scratched deep below the color. I would not go through all of the effort to return the stand after unpacking the entire thing ( I might add, it WAS nicely packaged). My feeling is that it was NOT damaged in shipment since it was so well padded in the package. [2] Rating: 4 Date: 2007-03-15 Summary: Good looking stand ... This stand is a heavy unit, mostly due to the glass. The top piece is thicker than the others to account for the weight of a TV. Read the directions compeltely and find the top and bottom of the wood pieces - I had to disassemble once to get it right. I would say the quality of the wood was an average finish. I had expected better, but the cost was commensurate. All pieces fit together well. The back panel was somewhat different than the directions and the hole for the wiring is only somewhat useful.
